Salt is an action adventure with a cold war espionage theme. Not that it is set back in time to the cold war, but pitting Russians against Americans. Angelina Jolie stars as a sleeper agent who somehow, as a child, infiltrates into the USA and becomes a CIA agent awaiting her activation .
Daniel Olbrychski plays the chief Russian spy and in an exchange of information exposes Salt and in doing that activates her. The indoctrination is so deep and latent that Salt (played by Jolie) does not seem to have a clue that she is a Russian. Decent story and twists but the theme is just a bit played out and tardy. Cold war with Russia?
The action is there and it is fairly non-stop. Stunts and effects are the rule of this picture that supports the old shallow story line. Jolie, well, she is still hot but getting old but the stunts were out there. Many of the fight scenes are so improbable I don’t think they would try this in a James Bond film.
This was entertaining and certainly kept my attention all through it. A good film if you like those non-stop action flicks.
