Director Terry Zwigoff returns to the theme of his films "Crumb" and "Ghost World"; the isolation of sensitve people whose interests and work are under-appreciated in an insipid contemporary world. This is Zeigoff's second adaption of a comic story by Daniel Clowes, after "Ghost World", for which they shared an Academy Award nomination for Best Screenplay in 2002.
